Dana Michelle Cook (She/Her)



Dana is a Certified Intimacy Coordinator, Emmy® and Gracie award-winning Producer and documentary filmmaker dedicated to shining light on issues that bring about social change. With almost two decades of production experience, she’s created original content for scripted and unscripted series, nonprofits, agencies, live events and digital platforms. Her credits include work for The Obama Foundation, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, ABC, NBC, The Food Network, Nike, and more. Most recently, she’s traveled with Oprah to produce on her cross-country WW 2020 Vision Tour.


As a documentary filmmaker, Dana has served as Co-creator and Producer of the documentary The Empowerment Project: Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things, traveling on two international tours to screen the film and spark conversations at schools, women’s organizations and corporations sponsored by Nordstrom, American Girl, Microsoft and Charles Schwab. The film has gone on to screen globally over 2,000 times in more than 20 countries including Russia, Haiti, New Zealand, Brazil and Nigeria. She has also been featured on Good Morning America, Forbes and Marie Claire.

She currently serves as Co-Founder of Freeheart Creative and documentary series, Seeing Brave created to shine light on global female leaders mobilizing communities in Kenya, Rwanda, Haiti, Syria, and beyond.



Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dana has lived in Spain and Argentina but now calls Chicago home. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara she has worked at MTV, Montecito Picture Company with Director Ivan Reitman and boutique agency Creative Entertainment Services, managing branded content for network shows and films for Warner Brothers, Disney, and Paramount Studios.
